Robin Williams Biography
He was one of three sons born to Robert Fitzgerald Williams and Laurie McLaurin in Chicago. His father was a former model and his mother was a top executive at Ford Motor Company. He came from a mixed ancestry family.
When he was a child, his family moved to Michigan, and he enrolled in the Detroit Country Day School. He was an excellent student who also participated in sports.
Despite this, he was bullied a lot at school. He was a recluse who spent most of his time alone with his toys. Because both of his parents worked, the lonely boy kept himself occupied by using his imagination.
He attended Redwood High School as a youth and graduated in 1969. He was a popular student in school, constantly making others laugh with his quips. He had a passion for acting since he was a child, and in 1973 he was awarded a full scholarship at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City.
In that year, he was one of only two students accepted into John Houseman’s Advanced Program. His students were Christopher Reeve and William Hurt.
Williams was married three times. In 1978, he married Valarie Velardi, with whom he shared a son. His drunkenness and infidelity caused their marriage to fall apart. In 1989, he married Marsha Garces, his son’s nanny. After that, the couple had two children.
This marriage was also short-lived and ended in divorce. Susan Schneider, a graphic designer, was his third wife in 2011. Williams had struggled with drinking and drug addiction throughout his life. He was also afflicted with depression.
On August 11, 2014, his personal assistant discovered him unresponsive, and physicians confirmed him dead shortly after. His death is thought to have been caused by suicide.

Robin Williams Career
During the 1970s, he began his career as a stand-up comedian. He was discovered by TV producer George Schlatter while playing at the Comedy Club in Los Angeles in 1977, and he was requested to appear on a revival of his ‘Laugh-In’ show.
In late 1977, he made his first appearance on television, performing an extended version of his stand-up acts. Despite the fact that the Laugh-In was a failure, it did help him gain recognition for his talent. In 1978, he auditioned for the role of Mork the Alien on the television sitcom ‘Happy Days.’
When he was invited to take a seat, he instantly sat on his head, impressing producer Garry Marshall. In 1978, the American sitcom ‘Mork & Mindy’ debuted, starring Robin as Mork, an alien from the planet Ork. The show was a big hit, and he became a well-known comedian as a result.
The show aired from 1980 to 1982. In 1979, he performed a live comedy presentation called “Reality… What a Concept” at the Copacabana in New York, for which he earned a Grammy Award.
Despite the fact that he had his big-screen debut in 1977 with the comedy film ‘Can I Do It ‘Till I Need Glasses?,’ he didn’t get his first major break until 1980 with the film ‘Popeye,’ in which he played Popeye the Sailor Man.
More parts followed, and in 1984 he was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for his performance as Vladimir Ivanoff in the comedy-drama ‘Moscow on the Hudson.’ In the 1987 war comedy film ‘Good Morning, Vietnam,’ he played a radio DJ on Armed Forces Radio Service, in which his character was partially based on the life of radio DJ Adrian Cronauer.
In 1989, he starred in the drama film ‘Dead Poets Society,’ which told the story of a conservative English teacher who inspires his students by teaching them poetry. The film was a big success.
Mrs. Doubtfire (1993), in which he pretends to be a woman in order to be closer to the children he had with his ex-wife, is one of his most memorable comedies.
He had a terrific year in 1997 because he got the chance to star in the brilliant film ‘Good Will Hunting,’ in which he portrays a psychiatrist who counsels a troubled but enormously creative young man.
He received numerous awards for the film. His sadness had gotten worse over the years, and he was now struggling with alcoholism. He died unexpectedly in 2014, and some of his films, such as “Merry Friggin’ Christmas” and “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb,” are set to be released after his death.
