John Cornyn (Politician) Biography
John Cornyn was born in Houston, Texas, the United States on February 2, 1952. He is the son of Athlone Gale Cornyn and US Air Force colonel John Cornyn II. After his family relocated to Tokyo in 1968, he attended the American School in Japan and graduated in 1969.
He graduated from Trinity University in 1973 with a journalism degree and was a member of Chi Delta Tau. Cornyn graduated from St. Mary’s University School of Law with a Juris Doctorate in 1977 and the University of Virginia School of Law with an LL.M. in 1995. In 1994, he received the St. Mary’s Distinguished Law School Graduate award, and in 2001, he was recognised as a Trinity University Distinguished Alumnus.
Cornyn went to Oxford University in 1988 for a two-week program co-hosted by the National Judicial College at the University of Nevada, Reno, and the Florida State University Law School. The seminar, which took place on the Oxford campus, had no academic ties to the institution.
Cornyn was a district judge in San Antonio for six years before being elected to the Texas Supreme Court as a Republican in 1990, where he served for seven years.
Cornyn has two kids with his wife, Sandy Hansen. In addition to his Senate salary, Cornyn gets pensions from three different state and municipal governments.

John Cornyn Career
The Texas Online Bureau was established by Cornyn to investigate illicit internet activity. He investigated bogus Medicare and Medicaid claims to combat government waste and corruption.
Civil rights organisations chastised Cornyn for failing to examine the bogus drug convictions of countless African Americans in Tulia, Texas, in a timely way. The Austin Chronicle stated on September 6, 2002, that Cornyn had indicated that his office will look into the 1999 cocaine bust, in which one narcotics agent’s testimony led to the incarceration of 46 persons, 43 of whom were Black.
Cornyn was touted as a possible candidate for Sandra Day O’Connor and William Rehnquist on the Supreme Court in 2005. Cornyn accused Democrats on the Judiciary Committee of devolving into mob rule during the Supreme Court nomination hearings for Brett Kavanaugh in September 2018, when they asked for a postponement or adjournment of the hearing to obtain or review documents from Kavanaugh’s time working for the George W. Bush administration.
Cornyn said it was difficult to trust the Democrats’ assertion that they couldn’t fairly judge Kavanaugh without the materials since their opinions seem to be made up already. In 2008, 2014, and 2020, he was re-elected.
