Beyonce Career

In 1996, the band changed their name to Destiny’s Child, which was inspired by a scripture from the Book of Isaiah. On the soundtrack to the 1997 film Men in Black, Destiny’s Child recorded their big label debut single “Killing Time” in 1997. “No, No, No,” the group’s debut song and first significant smash, was released in November. In February 1998, they released their self-titled debut album, which established the group as a viable act in the music industry, garnering moderate sales and three Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards for Best R&B/Soul Album of the Year, Best R&B/Soul or Rap New Artist, and Best R&B/Soul Single for “No, No, No.” The Writing’s on the Wall, the group’s multi-platinum second album, was released in 1999. The album includes some of the group’s most well-known songs, including “Bills, Bills, Bills,” their first number-one hit, “Jumpin’ Jumpin’,” and “Say My Name,” which became their most popular song at the time and would go on to become one of their hallmark tunes. At the 43rd Annual Grammy Awards, “Say My Name” won Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals and Best R&B Song.

The Writing’s on the Wall has sold over eight million copies throughout the world. During this period, Beyoncé recorded a duet for the album “After All Is Said and Done” with Marc Nelson, an original member of Boyz II Men. My name is… Sasha Fierce was released in the United States on November 18, 2008. Beyoncé’s alter persona Sasha Fierce, created during the recording of her 2003 song “Crazy in Love,” makes her debut on the album. It received mostly negative reviews from reviewers, although it went on to sell 482,000 copies in its first week, arriving at number one on the Billboard 200 and giving Beyoncé her third straight number-one album in the United States. [The album included the number one single “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” as well as the top five singles “If I Were a Boy” and “Halo.” “Halo’s” popularity in the United States helped Beyoncé achieve more top-ten hits on the Billboard Hot 100, making it her longest-running Hot 100 single in her career. She was the first solo female performer to headline the main Pyramid stage at the Glastonbury Festival in almost twenty years on June 26, 2011. In the United States, her fourth studio album 4, was released two days later. 4 debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart with 310,000 copies sold in its first week, giving Beyoncé her fourth consecutive number-one album in the United States. “Run the World (Girls)” and “Best Thing I Never Had” were two of the album’s hits.
