Alison Brie was born in Los Angeles County, California, USA, on 29 December 1982, as Alison Brie Schermerhorn. She is an American by nationality and is mixed. She is Charles Terry Schermerhorn and Joanne Brenner’s daughter. Her father is a freelance entertainment reporter and artist, and her mother worked at a non-profit childcare organization. She has a Lauren Schermerhorn girlfriend. When she was a child, her parents divorced. She spent her childhood with her parents, who were divorced.

Before fame, she worked at birthday parties as a clown and appeared in California theatres.
